Job ID: 829067-105645
Division: Windows Division
The Windows Runtime is the Windows developer platform for all Windows Store Apps. It provides consistent, well-integrated, efficient ways to build applications using either HTML, XAML or DirectX and write them using JavaScript, C++ or C#. It is our key developer technology as we fight to win the hearts and minds of app developers, and through them revitalize the Windows platform for the next generation of users.
The Windows Runtime Experience Team is the heart of this developer experience. We are responsible for the core technologies that make WinRT APIs possible, and the kits, policies and processes that get them to developers in great shape. Working in partnership with other teams in Windows and Developer Division, we aim to ensure a great developer experience built from great tools, a world-class API surface and a solid Windows platform underneath.
This SDE II opening is on a team whose technologies include core WinRT object activation, debugging, C# integration and many others. As an SDE II this team, you?d be a key driver of a part of a feature crew, and have ownership of several WinRT components. You?d work in the context of a feature crew with more senior engineers and grow your technical and soft skills through mentoring and increasingly challenging projects.
As an SDE II you?d be expected to be an effective software engineer across the whole cycle from envisioning features all the way to stabilizing and shipping them. You need to be a team player who works well in a collaborative environment with test and PM. You should be a growing leader, starting to take the initiative and drive your crew forward, and stepping up to new levels of responsibility. Our team has a large range of external partnerships, so great collaborative skills are a plus. More than anything else, you have to believe fundamentally in driving forward the platform and ease-of-use for developers - as this mission is our team?s key tenet.
